7 Signs Your Bathroom Has Water Damage

Cleaning & Restoration Solutions

Do you suspect your bathroom has water damage? If ignored, water-damaged areas become the perfect environment for mold and mildew.

Continue reading to learn the 7 signs your bathroom has water damage. If you recognize any of the signs in your own bathroom, call us for water damage restoration.

1. Mold and Mildew

Mold and mildew are the most obvious signs of water damage. But do you know what places in your bathroom tend to trap water? Mold loves to hide behind broken tiles, drywall, and painted surfaces. It also grows in old grout and deteriorating caulk.

Do mold and mildew reappear after scrubbing? If so, it’s because the mold and mildew are growing from the inside out. No matter how much you clean, you’re not able to remove mold and mildew at the source.

Gently push on the tiles or drywall. It shouldn’t move underneath. If it does, you have water damage.

2. Musty Smell

A proper ventilation system can remove moisture from the air after you take a bath or shower. But the musty smell of mold and mildew can still hang in the air.

Your bathroom should never smell damp. If it does, call us for water damage restoration as soon as possible. We also offer certified mold remediation if we find mold in your walls and subfloor.

3. Dripping Faucets

A dripping faucet may not seem like a big deal at first. But over time, it can lead to water damage in your bathroom. We recommend you call a plumber to inspect the sink or tub. That way, they’ll be able to fix the dripping faucet before it becomes a bigger problem.

4. Slow Drains

Is the water draining slower than usual in your tub or sink? A clogged drain can cause pressure and bacteria to build up inside your pipes. Over time, the blockage may create the ideal environment for mold to grow. Pipes can also burst if water builds up, but has nowhere to go.

Call a plumber as soon as you have problems with a slow drain. It could mean the difference between a small repair and water damage restoration.

5. Cracks in Caulk and Grout

Water is opportunistic. It will seep into the smallest of cracks in your caulk or grout. From there, water can drip down inside your walls and into your subfloor.

Make sure you keep your bathroom in good condition, reapplying caulk and grout as needed. Doing this will help reduce the number of places water can get trapped. It’ll also reduce the likelihood of mold, mildew, and wood rot.

6. Spongy, Unstable Floor

Does your toilet seem a little tippy? This can happen when water damage weakens the floor of your bathroom. Many bathrooms have plywood subfloors, which rot when exposed to water. Water-damaged floors will feel soft and spongy when you walk on them.

7. Spongy, Warped Walls

Drywall softens and bubbles when exposed to water. Over time, the amount of water damage will increase and warp your wall. Not only is water damage bad for your bathroom, but it affects the stability of the rest of your house.

Rich Baker was on the spot, very helpful, David & Martin arrived the same day and got busy Cleaning out the crawl space. They were very courteous, got right to work, and explained everything to me. They are a 5 star team. So glad the plumber suggested them. Even though they are wonderful, I hope I don’t need their services again LOL

David and Martin were awesome. They explained everything very well. Very respectful, professional and did an amazing job. I cant thank them enough. My basement was flooded and i was very frustrated and overwhelmed. David and Martin did such an amazing job i feel so much better! Thank you so much for everything. If you go with company please make sure that you talk about how the contractor which is a third party will have to come on the fix damages. Also, they don't tell you about additional expenses. Make sure you talk to your representative through the whole process, otherwise you find your self charged for items not discussed. It's best to get multiple quotes from other companies but when in emergency mode...
